Egyptian President Sisi Attends Completion and Opening Ceremony of 10th of Ramadan Railway

On July 3, the opening ceremony of the 10th of Ramadan Railway Project jointly undertaken by AVIC INTL and China Railway Group was held at Adly Mansour Station near Cairo International Airport in Egypt. Egyptian President Sisi, Prime Minister Madbouli, Minister of Transport, and other government officials as well as Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang and representatives of contractors including AVIC INTL and China Railway Group attended the ceremony.

President Sisi and Prime Minister Madbouli, along with the delegation, took the presidential special train from the starting station to the Badr Station near the depot, and experienced the light rail train "made in China". The driver of the special train was an Egyptian student trained in the "Excellent Talent Program" implemented by the AVIC INTL and the Nanjing Vocational Institute of Railway Technology. President Sisi had a cordial talk with the student driver before departure. After the ceremony, Ambassador Liao Liqiang, accompanied by Chen Wei, vice general manager of AVIC INTL Complete Equipment Co., Ltd. and Zhang Xuecai, vice general manager of the China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group, arrived at the depot of the light rail transit, inspected the operation control center and stopping train checkup shed, etc., and expressed his solicitude to the participating units and front-line builders of the 10th of Ramadan Railway Project. He also delivered a speech and expressed congratulations and encouragement to the Chinese participating units and all employees.

The 10th of Ramadan Railway Project in Egypt is about 70 kilometers long, with 12 stations along the way. The starting station is located at the Adly Mansour transportation hub. The light rail connects with Cairo Metro Line 3 and Cairo-Suez Railway Station, passes through satellite cities such as Abour, Future, Shorouk, and Badr, etc., and finally arrives at the Art and Culture Station, the new administrative capital of Egypt. The opening and operation of this project will provide efficient and convenient commuter transportation services for the 5 million residents who travel between Cairo's old city and the new capital.

The consortium formed by the AVIC INTL and the China Railway Group will not only be responsible for the EPC of the entire project, but also provide 2-year operation supervision support and 12-year maintenance services.
