
CREATE A BETTER WORLD | AVIC INTL RELEASES FIRST SOCIAL RESPONSIBILIY REPORT IN KENYA
At the beginning of the new year, AVIC INTL released the Chinese and English versions of AVIC INTL IN KENYA Corporate Social Responsibility Report 2022 (hereinafter referred to as the Report), which is the first Social Responsibility Report in Kenya released by AVIC INTL. This Report introduces in detail the relevant situation of AVIC INTL's full fulfillment of its social responsibilities in Kenya and conveys the initial mission of "Go Beyond Commerce for A Better World".
The Report systematically expounds the development process of AVIC INTL, which was committed to becoming a first-class infrastructure and aviation service provider in Kenya since it set up its representative office in Kenya in 1994; actively undertaking social responsibilities; and becoming a trusted and highly respected excellent enterprise.
The "Report" systematically reviews AVIC INTL's active practice of participation in Kenya's economic and social development in the fields of aviation building construction and roads, vocational education, energy and water conservancy livelihood projects, commercial real estate investment and engineering machinery and vehicles and the obtained positive effectiveness from five aspects of "Innovating Cooperation and Promoting Business and Team Double Integration", "Cultivating Sustainable Development Momentum with Vocational Education", "Practicing Initial Mission with Mutual Cooperation", "Supporting Employee Development under People-Oriented Idea", and "Creating A Better Tomorrow Jointly by Kenya and China".
Since opening up the Kenyan market, AVIC INTL has developed multi-level and multi-dimensional cooperation with local enterprises, broadened Kenya's economic and social development path through Chinese experience, technologies and equipment, and made key contributions to the construction of China-Kenya Community in the process of actively and jointly seeking win-win cooperation with local partners, interest-related parties and communities. The development and operation of Nairobi World Trade Center project in Kenya has added more than 4,000 jobs to Kenya. By introducing foreign capital and creating business opportunities, it has created conditions for improving the local economic development level and overall business level in Kenya. On June 15th, 2022, this project was awarded "2021 Kenya Best Creative Award" by Kenya National Construction Bureau.
Since 2009, AVIC INTL has actively explored the development of overseas public welfare undertakings, and combined with the actual needs in Kenya, jointly planned the vocational education projects with the Kenyan government departments, making vocational education an important support for promoting the construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative".
According to the statistics of the Kenyan Ministry of Education, the vocational education project of AVIC INTL has trained more than 5000 industrial skilled workers, vocational education teachers and 21000 students. Upon receiving the vocational education and training, the employment rate of students has reached 80%. In addition, since 2014, AVIC INTL has initiated and wholly funded the 7th African Vocational Skills Competition, creating a new model for Chinese enterprises to fulfill their corporate social responsibility overseas.
Ezekiel Machogu, Minister of Education of Kenya, said at the award ceremony of the 7th African Vocational Skills Competition held on November 22nd, 2022, "We thank AVIC INTL for continuously funding the African Vocational Skills Competition in Kenya, which has created employment opportunities for young people and promoted national economic development through the strength of young people. In the future, it is hoped that more local enterprises will cooperate with AVIC INTL to push more vocational and technical education and training projects in Kenya.
AVIC INTL adheres to the concept of win-win cooperation, and its infrastructure, manufacturing and housing construction projects have improved the local production and life in an all-round way, helped enhance regional interconnection, and actively promoted the sustainable development of Kenya's economy. Equipment procurement project of Kenya Youth Service (KYS), Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Phase II and Phase III Reconstruction and Expansion Project, "Two Rivers Project", Karimenu Dam Water Supply Project, etc., implemented by AVIC INTL have helped local development and benefited local people, winning the respect and praise of the Kenyan people.
The "Report" also shows in detail vivid examples of AVIC INTL's efforts to practice "Harmony and Common Prosperity between Kenya and China". AVIC INTL has paid long-term attention to the material and cultural needs of Kenyan people in environmental protection, education and people's livelihood, and combined with the company's experience and expertise in architectural engineering and other fields, it has carried out a series of localized community assistance and co-construction activities to promote the harmonious development of local society and orderly integration between enterprises and communities. Actively participating in emergency rescue and disaster relief, post-disaster reconstruction and free donation during the implementation of the project fully explains the AVIC INTL's corporate social responsibility in Kenya, and the code of conduct of a responsible overseas central enterprise in driving local all-round development in the whole process of the project.
The year 2023 will mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kenya. Looking ahead, China-Kenya cooperation has broad prospects. AVIC INTL will continue to practice China's true and sincere policy toward Africa, closely connect China's "Belt and Road Initiative" and global development initiative as well as Kenya's "Vision 2030" and "Four Development Goals", strengthen all-round cooperation with the Kenyan government and other relevant parties, help Kenya accelerate the industrialization process, enhance its independent development and sustainable development capabilities, and make greater contributions to building a China-Kenya community with a shared future and a China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.
