
AVIC International successfully held the Preliminary Competition Awarding Ceremony of ATC Season VII during which outstanding participants and teams were awarded
The Preliminary Competition Awarding Ceremony of the Africa Tech Challenge (ATC) Season VII, a CSR project organized by AVIC International, was successfully held online on September 23rd 2022. Leaders from the Export-Import Bank of China which was the specially invited partner, and ZWSOFT Co. Ltd. (Guangzhou), as well as the participating teams from Kenya, Egypt, Ghana, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Zambia attended the ceremony.
A total of 18 individual winners in the preliminary competition comprising of the top 3 individuals from each country will be awarded with cash following the 4-week training. 6 teams comprising of the winning team from each country, namely Meru National Polytechnic from Kenya, Integrated Technical Education Cluster (ITEC), Fayoum from Egypt, St. Paul Technical School from Ghana, Luyanzi Institute of Technology from Uganda, Northern Technical College from Zambia, and Bulawayo Polytechnic from Zimbabwe will enter the final competition.
This year, there were 65 teams formed by 259 students from 45 schools participating in ATC Season VII. The participants are from 7 countries, Kenya, Egypt, Ghana, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Tanzania. ATC Season VII continues the previous "training + competition" model. The participants were trained online for one month from July 25th to August 22nd, through AVIC INTL Vocational Education Online Platform. The preliminary competition was successfully held on August 25th. The competition event of ATC Season VII was on “Reading and Drafting of Construction Drawings”. The training focused on the knowledge of "basic operation of CAD software", "engineering drawing projection", "international drafting standards" and "building floor plan drawing". The participants were trained step by step to finally be able to use CAD software to draw building drawings of high standards. Apart from the training and competition, a midterm examination and final examination were held during the training stage for the participants to evaluate how they manage what they’ve learnt, according to which the trainers could adjust their training pace and difficulty to ensure the training was effective. Every ATC trainee who participated in the training and took the exams will receive a Certificate of Completion.
ATC Season VII is highly supported by the Export-Import Bank of China, a specially invited partner of AVIC International. As a policy bank, the Export-Import Bank of China has been helping African countries improve the vocational skills of their youth and their education levels, and has provided financial support for vocational education projects in many countries, which has greatly promoted the capacity building and development of African countries. At the awarding ceremony, the leader of the Export-Import Bank of China fully affirmed the significance of the competition and expressed best wishes for the development of vocational education in Africa.
The final competition of ATC Season VII is scheduled to be held in Kenya in November. The 6 national winning teams will gather in Kenya to compete on the same stage! Best wishes for the national teams to achieve great results!
